This month the newly elected officers will take over the reins of guiding and leading the Central Region for the next 12 months. We will also have a short slide show put together by Alan Bloom. It shows some of what the photographers attending Steve Yahr's outdoor lighting seminar on May 12 experienced. There will also be a report of the May PPANJ State meeting.

Our speaker this month is Noelle Zaleski. She will discuss, " How to make Sports Composites using Photoshop.

Don't forget to enter you images for the Mini Region Image Competition. This month we have an open Theme. Winning entry will receive up to $15 to cover the cost of their dinner that night.

The Topic is — Taking your portraits to the next level.

Jim’s program will demonstrate how to get the “WOW” factor for print competition, and by using the same techniques, giving your clients a wider variety to choose from.

Jim opened “Strike A Pose Photography” , located in Flemington, NJ, in 1990 and has been the recipient of many well deserved recognitions and awards.

She is President Elect of the New York Tri-state Chapter of AICI (the Association of Image Consultants International), and former Regional Director of Fashion Group International, and a former FORD NY model. 2008 Holiday Party

The feedback is in and the PPANJ 2008 Holiday Party was a success.

With over 200 members not including their spouses we had hoped for a better turnout, but the 90 people who did attend had a very good time. The location, the food and the entertainment were great. Flint Gennari and Terry Geerdts did a fantastic job taking and giving out free 4x6 portraits of those in attendance. You can see the images Flint and Terry took at http://www.fineartfotos.com/ .

2008 Holiday Party

The Central Region Holiday party originally scheduled for Dec 3 at John Pacetti's Studio has been cancelled.

We will, instead, join both the North and South Regions in a combined State Holiday Party.

The date is: December 15, 2008 from 6:30 PM to 11 PM
The location: Forsgate County Club, 375 Forsgate Drive
Monroe Township, NJ 08831

Those of you who have been to Forsgate before, know how good the food is, plus there will be entertainment. The price is also very good. Only $29 per head for a member and his 1st guest. Additional sponsored guests or employees are $49.

December Holiday Party

We will not have a regular meeting in December. Instead we will have a
Holiday Party
December 3rd at John Pacetti’s Studio
181 South Street, Freehold, 6PM till ….
Cost is $10 per head. You are welcome to bring your favorite dish or dessert to share.

GRAB BAG. Bring a wrapped gift worth about $10 to $20 max. Participation in the grab bag is not required.

November Regional Meeting

Our next meeting is November 5th at the Peter Pank Diner.
We discuss what we want to do for December. As I see it we have 3 choices. 1. Have a holiday party. 2. Have a regular meeting. Or 3. Take the month off. Please bring a preference or a suggestion for an alternative.
This month we will have our annual “Off the Wall Competition” Members from other regions may compete as well. You are allowed to enter up to 4 images. The images must be at least 8x10 and can be either mounted or framed.
We will also have our annual July Shoot Out Competition. This is open only to members of the Central Region and must be images that were taken at our July Shoot Out at Allaire State Park in July of 2008. Members are allowed to submit 2 images.
The judges will be, Gene Urban, Vinny Piciocchi, and Michael Travisano

October 1st - Cental Region Meeting

Our next meeting is Oct 1st at the Peter Pank Diner. Don't forget to submit your images to Ed O'Malley for our monthly competition. The subject is Colorful. We will also have Dave Evans there to show you how to do specific things in Photoshop. Tell him what you want to do in photoshop and Dave will explain how to do it. This is not a basic generalized photoshop lesson. So bring your photoshop questions. Don't forget, our November meeting is the Off The Wall Competition, so get your prints ready.

Evermay 2008

This years Evermay was received very well by those in attendance. Dan Doke was terrific. He gave us some interesting perspectives on lighting, work flow and businsee. He did a great job answering questions and giving advice. The food at Forsgate was great as usual. If you did not attend you missed a good day. We are looking for advice and volunteers to work on next years Evermay. Let's start early with the planning to insure a good turnout and worthwhile speaker. July 8th Shoot Out

Even though we had some confusion due to the weather, our July Shoot Out was very good. We cancelled the scheduled shoot out on 7/14/08 because of threats of inclement weather. As sometimes happens, the weatherman was wrong. Not to waste the good weather, some of our members decided to go anyway. We had better weather (if you call hot, humid, and very sunny better weather) on the rescheduled date of 7/21/08. Once again, Thea Garcia brought the very photogenic DiMartini Family (Tom, Maria, Jenna, and Devin). They are great to work with. We also had several other models to work with. Don't forget to send any images you took of the models to them. That's why they come out.

We are going to try something new for each Regular meeting.
Central members are encouraged to submit 2 images that were taken in 2008. They will be scored 1 to 10 by the members present. Winning image will receive $15 to cover the cost of dinner. Submit your images by Email to Ed O’Malley at EJOmalleyinc@optonline.net . Images should be Jpeg and be no larger that 5x7 at 250dpi. Ed must receive the images by August 1st to be eligible. Each regular meeting we will assign a different topic. At our August meeting in 2009 we will vote on the winners throughout the year and the winner will receive a gift certificate for B&H. Good Luck

EVERMAY 2008

EVERMAY for 2008 will be held at Forsgate County Club, 375 Forsgate Drive, Monroe Twsp, NJ The speaker will be Dan Doke - His topic among other things will be Weddings. We have use of the facility at Forsgate which will give Dan the opportunity to do a live shoot.This is an all day seminar and lunch at Forgate Country Club is included. Cost if registered before Sept 8th is $49Registration at the door is $69Anyone registered prior to Aug 30th is eligible to win a 4 gig Compact Flash Memory Card. There will be 2 winners. Right now, we have 4 vendors and are working on getting a few more. If you know of a vendor who might be interested, please let contact either Clinton Linton or Marty Tremarco.

Hello and welcome to our new blog...

We have taken the lead from the North Region and created our own blog where we will keep you up to date on Central Region information and also invite you to express your opinions and suggestions.

Unlike the north region, this blog will replace our newsletter. Duplicate information means duplicate work. We want to try and make getting information to you, as easy as possible. Any time you want to find out what is happing in the region just check the blog. We will attempt to put as much information as possible about our meetings , new members, awards, recognitions, and vendors. We will even include some images.

Feel free to write comments and suggestions.
We hope to hear from you and we will keep you posted with what's new.
